We all have one or two that by all accounts we should love, but for some reason, it just never clicked for us. Who are yours?

I, for some reason, have never really been a huge Hank Williams, Jr fan. I should be, but I just never could get into any of his music other than "A Country Boy Can Survive" or "Family Tradition".

  1. Garth Brooks, I liked his earlier material, but when he went through that Chris Gaines period. I just turned it off. Never got back to enjoying his music again.

  2. That whole "outlaw" thing never did it for me.

  3. Garth Brooks The only song I like is the Dance

  4. Hank Williams jr. I probably should, but the only song I've liked is the one he did with Brad Paisley, I'm Still A Guy.

  5. Shania Twain

  6. I never really liked:

    Shania Twain

    Garth Brooks

    Taylor Swift

    Hank Williams Jr.

Keith Urban (especially his newer songs)

Rascal Flatts (the leadman sounds like he's got a stuffy nose)

  7. I have never been able to get into Brooks and Dunn. Atleast the majority of their songs. I cannot stand when Ronnie Dunn sings (which he does sing most of their songs) Anytime i hear his voice i feel like i am going to get car sick! (reoccuring memories of riding in a car when i was younger and his voice triggers it) One of my all time favorite songs is "you better kiss me because you're gonna miss me when i'm gone" though. Kix Brooks does the lead vocals on.

  8. To me all country sucks.

  9. With a few song exceptions, I've never gotten into Rascal Flatts or Kenny Chesney.  Can't really explain it, maybe too much pop in their country.

I do however, LOVE Gary Allan!  that man turned me on the first time I hears Smoke Rings in The Dark!  Been in love ever since :)

  10. I just can't seem to get into Tim McGraw or Toby Keith...not sure why.

And although I like a couple of their songs - Jennifer Nettles' voice (Sugarland) makes me want to cringe...

I should add Willie Nelson too - this idiot believes 9/11 was an inside job...

  11. Willie Nelson and Dwight Yoakam

  12. I'm probably going to get lots of thumbs down, but for ME

    Willie Nelson

Kris Kristofferson...LOVE this mans song writing, he wrote some of the best country songs ever written, I just can't stand his singing.

  13. I used to like Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban, but a few muscles and dental appointments later, they are getting boring-all of their songs sound the same.  I love George Strait, but for the life of me I can't understand why he is so popular.  I am so glad that he his because he is extremely talented.  But what does he have that others don't have to still be successful almost 30 years later? He doesn't write songs, barely plays guitar, he's not killing himself touring (which now he doesn't have to).  I am glad we still have guys like him around, and I hope he has 50 more number 1's, I just am amazed at his success.

I like Taylor Swift's personality, but her music gets on my nerves.  So many things in country music are so contrived.  Bring back Traditional Country!!!

  14. Willie Nelson!

  15. Kenny Chesney. I think it was "She Thinks My Tractor's s**y" that turned me off. Some of his later songs that have been getting awards are pretty good, but his early stuff was too contrived.

I'm also starting to lose Shania Twain and Faith Hill, with the oversaturation of "bimbo star" fake country that's infiltrating since they got popular and crossed over. I'm praying it's not too late for LeAnn Rimes.

  16. I was never a fan of the Dixie Chicks, even before the whole Toby Keith/D.C. feud.  That whiney voice just doesn't cut it for me...

  17. Josh Turner

    some of my favs are

    shania twain

    reba

    Joe Nicols

    jason michael carroll

    carrie underwood

    taylor swift

    miranda lambert

oh and another one who I just cant pull myself to like is Blake Shelton

  18. 1] Not entirely country, but Bob Dylan. He writes spectactular songs ("Mr. Tamborine Man," "This Wheel's On Fire," a gazillion others) and I adore his compositions when others provide the vocals, but I can't stand to listen to him. It makes no sense because I absolutely adore The Band, so you'd think... but who knows?

2] Taylor Swift. I loved Lila McCann and LeAnn Rimes and Jessica Andrews, so it's not that I don't like teen country, and I'm 25, so it's not her age. I don't know... whenever I see her or  her voice comes on the radio I just hear terrible "N'Sync" music babbling behind a soda pop bottle opening. Please don't thumbs-down me just because you like her. This post is about people you think you SHOULD like but can't bring yourself to.

3] Dwight Yoakam. I've tried and tried and tried. I love "A Thousand Miles from Nowhere" and that's it.

4] Keith Urban. I loved his early stuff off his first album ("But for the Grace of God" and the absolutely spectactular album track "You're Not My God") but he's become a neutered pretty-boy. It's like as soon as guys get married all their output turns to mushy love songs.

5] Jewel. I love folksy singer-songwriters (I'm a big fan of the Laurel Canyon movement) so this doesn't make sense either. File it under Bob Dylan.

Favorite song: "Amarillo By Morning," George Strait

(and whoever criticized him above is lucky he did it delicately, because I came thisclose to popping a top)

  19. Shania Twain was ok, but then all of a sudden she turned somewhat trashy in her videos. Tanya Tucker, Mavericks, and several others I can't think of.
