Any idea of the country of origin for these recipes:

paella

flan

empanadas

ceviche

arepas

tostones

pico de gallo

tamales

tacos

licuado de frutas

chiles rellenos

mole

parrillada mixta

mofongo

rosca de reyes/el pan de muerto

and they aren't all from Mexico =p

  1. paella is from spain...

    arepas is from like columbia and venezula...

    tostones is porto rican... so is mofongo...

    not sure about the rest...

    flan- Spain

    empanadas- Most likely Galicia, Spain

    ceviche- a mixture of many different cultures that settled in Peru

    arepas- Andes in South America (from countries like Colombia and Venezuela)

    tostones- likely native to India and Southern Asia. It is assumed that the Portuguese Franciscan friars were responsible for the introduction of tostones to the Caribbean Islands and other parts of the Americas.

    pico de gallo- This one is definitely from Mexico

    tamales- This one comes from Mexico from the native Nahua indians

    tacos- a traditional Mexican dish

    licuado de frutas- this is a hard one because people have been eating fruits and fruit drinks since the beginning of time, so I don’t think there is one place it originated from

    chiles rellenos- Mexican

    mole- traditional Mexican dish from the native Nahua Indians, as well

    parrillada mixta- Argentina

    mofongo- its from both Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic

    rosca de reyes/el pan de muerto- definitely MEXICO!
