Country wedding attire?

Question

so i've been to tons of weddings. formal, informal, black tie, h**l even a white tie wedding, but i have an invitation to a 'country style wedding' next week and i have no flippin idea what that means.

it's not in a church so i'm assuming no jacket but not sure on the rest. its on a country property out by the lake. temps this time of year are probably high 70's.

khakis and a dress shirt untucked? slacks and a dress shirt and tie? suit? what does country wedding mean?

I have been to  few outdoor weddings and a lot of them could be considered as country weddings.  You must know either the groom or bride, so go with that...are they country folk, like the outdoors, have horses, like to camp and don't hang out in the city much.  Well then Jeans are even permitted at these weddings.  If you don't have jeans (I can't believe that there are people out there that do not own a pair of jeans) then go with a pair of dress slacks.  A simple shirt, buttoned at the neck but undone after the ceremony.   even with the jeans.  boots will be fine with the pant legs out please.  A tie is not necessary. It is basically a relaxed atmosphere wear what you are comfortable in.

Well i would wear khakis and a button down shirt.

Nothing cool maybe wear a denim button down shirt.

And buy a long sleeve but make sure it is thin...

Yes they mean casual

Wear clothes that you are comfortable in, including khakis, or even jeans. Men can wear casual shirts and ties and forgo the jackets.

Does your invitation state whether its a western theme if so - well you could roll out your best boot scootin' gear if you want

For a guy probably a pair of nice denim jeans or moleskins if you have such a thing where you live or just some nice dressy slacks/pants and a nice shirt - country and western style even if you want and a pair of boots - if you want to wear a hat - fine just  make sure it is typical country style

Girls could wear a nice flowing skirt and top or dress - as its fairly warm something in cotton would be nice with nice open but dressy sandals

If you still are unsure check with another guest that is invited to the same wedding and ask what they are wearing - so that you feel comfortable in what you are wearing

If it is just a wedding outdoors in the country - then smart casual is the way to go

Well I am a girl...and would wear a simple little sun dress...For you, I would go with the khakis and dress shirt...don't skimp on the loafers...just a casual brown pair or something....but women love mens shoes!

Strange...what I would do is call the bride (they usually have more of an idea of the style) what type of attire that is, for the males.  Then wear what she says.  Then let us know - interesting!
