Question:

Country with no taxes?

Is it possible for a country to have other methods of income such as investments and raw resources so that the country does not need to impose tax on its citizens. Also, why does the federal government need so much money to do barely anything. It seems state and local governments would need the most money.

  1. The answer is a definite yes with a careful consideration needing to be taken for how many variable expenses the government will be responsible for maintaining. For example, if the government decides to offer public healthcare their expenses for each fiscal year can only be estimated. This means that production and income will have to accommodate for the fact that its citizens may choose to use the benefit exponentially more or less from fiscal year to fiscal year. The amount the government can produce, which subject to its resources, to accommodate for this variable expense will be the existential crux to a governmental system of this nature.

Do not let others confuse you either by saying this government is reminiscent of Communist or Socialist ones either. In your form, the government and public sectors are independent of one another while using the "profits" of the government sector to subsidize the general welfare as defined by a social contract. If a failure occurs in the public sector here it only affects the individuals choosing to fail. In Communist or Socialist systems no public sector exists and so like an appendage cannot leave the body when it contracts a disease everyone in this system suffers when someone fails.

You are on the right track though in terms of revolutionary ideas for government (have you considered contacting a local party and seeking an open position?) because the United States very easily could consolidate and cut expenses making government programs more efficient and use its debts owed from other countries to invest directly into our stock market. Essentially, this is the current system they use by taking from businesses and the public sector, they just do not have to concern themselves with the up and down cycles of the economy.

  2. Move to Antarctica.  No taxes, penguins to catch and eat.

  3. The federal government is giving the states more tax responsibility. I wonder how the states will get revenue from electric plug-in cars? In New York the state gets a huge amount from gas tax. But gee, doesn't the government want us to be on clean fuels?

It certainly would be nice if government became a business venture that could make them cut taxes, at least save us some money.
