Countrywide Flame sets sight on StanJames.com Chester Cup
Countrywide Flame is looking to make an impression in the StanJames.com Chester Cup at Chester in England on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. He has got quite a lot of experience and will be looking to make the most of it in the future.
The five-year-old gelding has been given pretty decent odds for victory and it will be interesting to see how many bets he manages to attract. The bookmakers have shown immense confidence in his abilities and the punters will also be expecting a strong show
from him.
He debuted back in 2010 and his performances since then have been quite impressive. His strike rate is not a phenomenal one, but he has still managed to do a reasonable job for his team and fans.
Overall, Countrywide Flame has participated in a total of 31 races, winning 10 of them whereas finished as a runner up on six times. Moreover, he has also secured the third spot on seven occasions, which shows that he is quite a competitive stallion. He
has never made life easy for his opponents and they have struggled to dictate terms against him.
The 2013 season has not been a very good one for the seasoned performer, as he has been unable to win even a single event. He has given a couple of decent performances, but his team would like to see him on top of the table. He ended up fifth last time around,
which is not what his fans would have expected.
According to his trainer John Quinn, “Countrywide Flame has shown he can handle the track, he has had a bit of a break since Aintree and he seems in good form. He has a nice draw and a nice racing weight. Kiama Bay is not so well drawn but has track form
and is working very well.”
On the other hand, all trainers have kept an eye on the track conditions. Clerk of the course Andrew Morris said: “We had just 1mm of rain from 5am but that has now stopped and the clouds are beginning to break and that should hopefully be all of the rain
for today. The going is still good to firm all round.”
