County health official defamation at my business of me personally to an employee. ?

A county official came in for an inspection on a friday during delivery's. My cook was in for the delivery's and the inspector started questioning where I was and began telling the employee of personal life of mine. I recently went through a divorce> I know rumors run wild, especially in business and people, but this official is on the clock, shows up at my business and starts telling my employee about my personal life. This inspector also inspects another business of mine. This guy start telling people these rumors and I start having problems. Is he liable?

I don't understand how the inspector would know so much about your private life.  If I were to guess I would think it probably was the other way around.  No I don't think he would be liable for anything.
