  1. I was wondering is it illegal for a county/ city to require you to pay to view a zoning map on line? NO

Dose this not fall under the freedom of information act? NO

freedom of information act provides for access to documents NOT necessarily free access. there are numerous government forms, documents and services that are charged for.

  2. FOIA allows charges for the actual resonable expense of producing a requested document.  It's legal.

  3. They are allowed to charge reasonable fees - even if you go in person to the courthouse they can charge copying fees.  And while you might have a right to get the info under the FOIA, it doesn't give you the right to get it online.
