It figures I wait until the last day to do my summer packet.... and I forgot how to do these:

1) The graph of f(x) =

{ (x^2-9)/(x+3) x cannot equal -3

{ y x = -3

contains a removable discontinuity (hole) at x=-3. What value of y would make this function continuous?

2) A line with a slope 6 is tangent to the curve y= x^2 - 4 when x=3. Write an equation of the line.

3) A "normal" line is perpendicular to a tangent line. GIven the information in the previous question (#2), write an equation of the normal line.

4) Simplify: e^ln(5x+6)

  1. I'll do number 2 for you but you'll have to do the others.

    y = (3)^2 - 4 = 5

    y - y1 = m(x - x1)

    y - 5 = 6(x - 3)

    y - 5 = 6x - 18

    y = 6x - 13
