hunter valley is a great area, except we have olive thieves, they raid olive plantations and steal our olives!

What about the Central Coast half way between Sydney and Hunter Valley? Fantastic place to bring up kids, beaches and bush. Can commute to  Sydney for work if need be, and theres a pretty good rail/ bus system here too.

Depends where you are coming from. The Hunter Valley is about 2.5 north of Sydney, great place to live if you grew up in a country enviroment but if you and your family currently reside in the burbs you might find it difficult, not as fast paced.

If you want more things to do then Sydney is your best bet, east, north and south are the best pics.

If it is in Sydney, then residing in Hunter Valley is not feasible
