  1. Yes it is, try www.aop.com and go for the ACADEMY.

Otherwise you can home school and have your parents grade everything using either the SOS program (at above website) or some other home schooling curriculum.

I live in Michigan though so the laws will be different in your area.

    MORE INFO:

Ok so you are trying to make sure you are ready for school:

Go to www.HSLDA.org have your parent become a member, they will help you with the legal aspect and make sure the school accepts your schooling as valid. They also will have tools for preparing yourself.

If you have been using a good curriculum you should be pretty well prepared; check out the reading list and the classes people take for 8th grade or whatever your going into and make sure you do all that and understand all that.

Make sure you are capable of writing a good paper, doing basic algebra (learn this now), doing all your basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals; also negative numbers). Make sure you have a pretty good vocabulary and that you know the basics of science. All of which are things you should be learning regardless of whether you are home schooled or go to a public school.

I do think doing the "academy" would be a good option to get you used to having teachers and due dates. Also, they are a real Christian school but distance learning; so your school would just see you as a transfer from another school.

Again, www.aop.com and look for ACADEMY or Alpha Omega Academy.

Something else of this nature would also be good.

  2. Start by researching homeschooling laws in Manitoba.  They'll have the most information about how to do it legally where you live.  They may also have suggestions (or not!) about courses to sign up for.

There are tons of correspondence schools as well as online schools.  Sometimes known as "cover schools" or "umbrella schools". You have your student do the work, you give the tests, and send in either the tests to be graded or just send in the grades, and the school keeps track of the grades, sends report cards, and keeps records which can be transferred to a "bricks & mortar" school if your student gets enrolled in one later on.  Or they'll send the transcript to prospective colleges even later on, if that's what's needed.

Some examples of these schools (that I know of) are Calvert School (secular), Oak Meadow (secular), and various Christian ones:  Abeka, Bob Jones, Alpha Omega, Christian Liberty, and Homeschool Plus from Christian Light.  There are tons and tons of others.  You can do a general search for "homeschool curriculum" or similar, or you can go visit homeschooling.About.com, or a yahoo search for homeschool groups.

AFTER MORE INFO:  Okay, so you're trying to make sure you're prepared for 9th grade!  I'd suggest going to the website of your school district or authority, and see if they have their requirements posted for what each grade is supposed to know by the end of that grade.  If they don't, try another province.  Then just make sure you can do/know all that list!  Good luck!
