There are over 2000 schools in the USA that give Masters level degrees. Although M.S., M.A. and M.B.A. are the most common there are many other post B.A./B.S. degrees including MFA, MPh, MSN, MSW, etc. There are probably at least 30 or 40 different Masters degrees. Some which are NOT offered in the USA are medicine, surgery and dentistry. For those fields you must have a Doctorate to practice in the USA.

Most Masters degrees have pre-requisites that must be completed before they will accept an application, or which must be completed before you start your graduate work. Normally this would be a BA/BS degree in the exact topic you are going to get your Masters degree in.
