Court McGee: I will hurt Nick Ring and finish him in the octagon – UFC News
Court McGee, the surging young middleweight mixed martial artist, is looking forward to end his feud against arch nemesis Nick Ring and in a recent media interaction, vowed that he will hurt Nick, adding that he just wants to go out and finish Nick once
and for all.
Court and Nick will take on each other in a non-title bout which will be televised live on UFC 149’s preliminary card on FX. The duo will meet at the Scotiabank Saddledome arena in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 21, 2012.
The main card is being headlined by the interim bantamweight title bout between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber. The showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title bout between Tim Boetsch and Hector Lombard.
This will be the second time that McGee and Ring will take on each other in an attempt to prove as to who is the best middleweight. In their first clash, which was held on UFC’s live show ‘The Ultimate Fighter 11’, Court emerged victorious by grabbing a
majority decision.
Ring, Tito Ortiz’s pick, was very upset at the decision since it was he who was to some extent dominating the bout and all he needed was just one more round. Even Court, during the recent media interaction, admitted that the bout should have been stretched
over three rounds.
McGee was of the view that the extra round would have helped in proving that who is the clear winner and it would have quashed all assumptions or controversies. Ring since that dismal loss has been rigorously pursuing Court.
McGee, also known as ‘The Crusher’, will enter his career’s 17th mixed martial art bout, boasting 14 wins with three coming via knockout and seven by way of submission. Court while sharing his thoughts about Nick commented that Ring is a true mixed martial
artist who takes the sport seriously, adding that he has the passion and loves to compete.
Court stated, “I know Nick Ring, and I’ve talked to him since the show, and he’s a true martial artist. He’s a good guy, and I like competing against guys like that. And he takes it serious. I mean, most everybody in the UFC takes it serious, but it’s good
to compete against somebody that loves competing and who has the same passion for martial arts as I do.”
When asked as to what are his plans to do with Nick in the octagon, Court commented, “I want to come out and hurt Nick Ring; finish him. I want to beat up Nick Ring, man. I want to come out and beat him, and that’s something that I’m going to do.”
Ring, 33, will enter his 14th career bout, boasting 12 wins with six coming via submission and two by sheer knockouts.
