Court Vision to defend his title in the $1 million Woodbine Mile against an outstanding lineup at Woodbine
The 2010 champion of the Grade 1 $1 million Woodbine Mile , Court Vision, will be looking to defend his title against a highly talented lineup on 18 September, 2011, and field go to post at Woodbine racecourse.
Since Court Vision’s Woodbine Mile win last season, the six-year-old horse hasn’t been able to make much of an impact on his racing career, as he has been winless in 3 starts, not even been able to finish on the money all this season.
Although now, he has been bought by Spendthrift Farm, who have handed over the older horse to Dale Romans and maybe Court Vision will be able to turn his season around with a win in the massively pursed race at Woodbine.
Court Vision will make his debut for his new owners, but he will be ridden under the same jockey, Robby Albarado, who has guided Court Vision to 3 grade 1 victories out of 10 starts together.
The grade 1 wins include the Grade 1 Shadwell Turf Mile over turf at Keeneland on 10 October, 2009, Grade 1 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap at Gulfstream Park on 6 February, 2010 and the Grade 1 Woodbine Mile on 19 September, 2010.
This season, Court Vision has been ridden by Robby Albarado twice, and once the horse rolled in 4th in the Grade 1 Marker’s Mark Mile at Keeneland, and then at Churchill Downs where Court Vision turned in a disappointing 9th in the
Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic.
The son of Gulch, out of Weekend Storm by Storm Bid, Court Vision made his last start in the Colonial Turf Cup, where he finished 4th again at Colonial Downs on 18 June, 2011.
His last race was three months back, so it means Court Vision is coming off a three month layoff, but he will be the leading money winner on the Woodbine Mile field, with $2.6 million bank roll in 29 starts.
However, the favourite to win the race is Courageous Cat, who has been in awesome form throughout the season, and with Court Vision winless in 5 starts, Courageous Cat might inherit the role of the highest earner.
