Court how it will be

i have to go to court for stealing 40 dollars how will the court look. i have never been in court so i dont know anything. will there be a lot of people waiting for their time and listening to my case or is it going to be me and just the judge. please help its illinois and i am 17

Won't look like the movies. Mostly a assortment of police, lawyers and bums. It may be hard to tell the bums and lawyers apart. The police are easy all in uniform with big guts. The judge will have a black robe and a scowl looking like he hasn't moved his bowels in three weeks. Don't worry $40 is nothing. You have murder people or rob a bank before they even consider jail.

If you are in adult court for traffic and misdemeanors you would be with a group of ppl waiting for their turn and listening.  

If you are getting charged as a juvenile, I believe those are closed so you may just be by yourself.  Well yourself and whoever else is supposed to be there.  Either way... just remember to be polite.  what I have always been told and learned, it is always "yes your honor or no your honor".  Good luck.  Probably get a stay of adjucation for a 1 yr probation.
