Courtney Conlogue, Paige Hareb, Sage Erickson and Sarah Baum top round 5: 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France
In round 5 of the 2011 ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro, four surfers, including Courtney Conlogue, Paige Hareb, Sage Erickson and Sarah Baum came out and gave their best performances in heat 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively at Les Bourdaines in France, on Friday,
June 3.
In heat 1, Courtney Conlogue of USA claimed the highest heat score of 14.90, while Sally Fitzgibbons of Australia wound up second with a total score of 11.10 and Cannelle Bulard (REU) earned third spot in the heat with a total score of 8.75.
In the following heat, the surfer from New Zealand, Paige Hareb led the group with 11.75 points. Meanwhile, Justine Dupont of France settled for second place with a total score of 10.70 and Georgia Fish of Australia captured third spot with 7.90 points.
Hareb had been performing consistently in the tournament and not surprisingly, was very pleased with her performance.
In heat 3 of round 5, Sage Erickson of USA grabbed the first spot with a winning score of 10.00. The Hawaiian surfer, Alana Blanchard earned second place honours with a total score of 8.35, while Stephanie Gilmore of Australia rounded out the top three in
the heat with a total score of 5.60.
In the fourth and final heat of round 5, Sarah Baum claimed first spot with a score of 11.90. Although the surfer didn't seem too comfortable handling the waves, she did end up with a score which confirmed her place in the next round of the competition. Suelen
Naraisa of Brazil earned second spot with a total score of 8.75, while Dimity Stoyle of Australia clinched third place honours with a rather embarrassing 4.65 points.
The fifth round winners booked their places into the quarter-finals of the 2011 ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro, which will be held at Les Bourdaines in France, June 3.
In the first quarter-final, Courtney Conlogue of USA and Justine Dupont of France will be competing for a place in the semifinals of the event, while the second quarterfinal heat will feature Sally Fitzgibbons and Paige Hareb.
In third quarter final, Sage Erickson and Suelen Naraisa will battle it out for a semifinal berth and finally, Sarah Baum and Alana Blanchard will fight it out in the fourth quarter-final to keep their title hopes alive.
