Courtney Funk secures Girls 50m freestyle crown: 2011 High School State Championships
Minot’s Courtney Funk, GF Central’s Ali Church and Dani Bergeson of Century continued to the impress Grand Forks’ crowd at the 2011 High School State Championships, in North Dakota, on Wednesday, November 16. Funk clinched Girls 50m freestyle title, while
Ali grabbed Girls 200m freestyle crown. In addition, Dani secured the gold medal in Girls 200m Individual Medley event.
Century’s Cassie Walth and Jarren Fallgatt were blown away by Courtney Funk’s scintillating splash in the Girls 50m freestyle final heat, where Funk posted a breathtaking time of 23.36 seconds against his rivals to clinch the gold title. After the race,
Walth settled at second place in a time of 24.05 seconds, while Fallgatt earned bronze medal in a time of 24.20 seconds.
In addition, Danica Dutt of West Fargo claimed fourth place honours by banging the finishing blockade in a blot of 24.28 seconds, whereas, Emily Roche of Fargo North settled at fifth place in a spot of 24.93 seconds, respectively.
In the meantime, the Girls 200m freestyle title was taken over by GF Central’s Ali Church in a winning mark of 1 minute and 50.28 seconds. Additionally, the silver title was clinched by Madeline Smith of Fargo South in a spot of 1 minute and 56.72 seconds,
while the bronze title went to West Fargo’s Hallie Peterson in a time of 1 minute and 56.78 seconds.
Moreover, Addy DiCristina of GF Red River and Ketti Ringwall of Williston were settled at fourth and fifth places in a time of 1 minute and 56.84 seconds and 1 minute and 56.86 seconds, respectively.
Last, but not the least, the Girls 200m Individual Medley title was taken over by Century’s Dani Bergeson in a winning blot of 2 minutes and 07.35 seconds. Meanwhile, Elizabeth Roche of Fargo North won silver medal in the respective race with a mark of 2
minutes and 08.84 seconds, while Veronica Herrma of Century pocketed bronze title in a mark of 2 minutes and 13.01 seconds.
Aubrey Wentz of West Fargo was placed at fourth spot in a time of 2 minutes and 17.08 seconds, while Bryn Everson of Williston settled at fifth place in a blot of 2 minutes and 17.23 seconds.
