Covering ipod touch water sensor ?

Question

there is a lil square in the back of the ipod touchs headphones jack and if water gets in your ipod it turns red and it voids your warrantie so since i'm very poor and i had to save for my ipod i'ma try to make the red sensor white again so my qeustion is has anyone tried it?,what is the best material to cover it i heard paper but wont it look all ruffed when the sensor is all plastic and flat but wat would u use it with?,do they all check for water damage and wat do the genius bars use to check? what will happen if they see i tried to cover it up?

i know this is very dishonest but i really love my ipod like i fell asleep wit it in my ear and the only reason it got water on it was becuz my lil bro was acting stupid and i didn't realise he had it but w/e imma just tell'em that its hardware failure becuz the problem is that it works fine no sign of water at all but it wont show up in the computer or itunes and when it gets pulled in it keeps sayin that usb device not recognized and i/m very good with computers so i even put my ipod in restore mode and it shows up but its says eror unkown when it trys to restore it looks like a descent arguement for system failure and i got a new cord tried it on a different machine nuttin worked and imma miss listen to it on my way to school and everything it has to offer

so if have any tips or comments helpz post but don't worry i'm not just gunna shive some paper up there ima try to make it look legit i just need to know all the info i can

well i went to the lake one day and i had my ipod in the pocket of my shorts and i  jumped in to get on the jet skis and i didn't even feel it in my pocket. when i got back from riding i felt it in my pocket getting really hot...so i said its completely done. what i did is take a piece of laminated photo paper cut the right size square out. put super glue on one side and take a safety pin or paper clip and put it down there. looks completely legit. im taking it up to the genius bar tomorrow and ima see if they are going to replace it.
