Hi Juliet-

Your answer is already in SI units.  Maybe the problem wanted base units, but if your teacher told you that Volts are not SI units, smack him (I know that no female would make such a stupid error) one upside the head and tell him to take a basic science course (if he can stay off the crack long enough to do the homework).

Sorry, I have a real problem with "bad" teaching!

Base or derived, an SI unit is an SI unit.

Volt is certainly an SI unit and you don't need to express it in other SI base units like meter, ampere...

The question here is that microvolt is NOT  an SI unit, and you were asked to express  85 µV in volt.

1 µV is one millionth, or 10^-6, of a volt.

Therefore 85 µV = 85 x 10^-6 V or 8.5 x10-7 V
