Cowan uncertain about what to expect in upcoming Test against Windies– Cricket News Update
Aussie opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Andrew-Graham-Downton-c44379 Cowan has admitted that he is unsure of what’s in store for him as he prepares to take on the Windies in a 3-match Test series starting on April 7 at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
“I don't think I've ever played a game of cricket where I've never faced a bowler in the opposition before, so it's all new to me," Cowan said in an interview with
Fox Sports News.
The current Aussie squad is relatively inexperienced when it comes to Tests in the Caribbean – http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 before. Similarly, the Windies squad
also features several young players (including 19-year-old opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kraigg-Brathwaite-c71708), which means both sides will more or less be equally matched in terms of experience.
“They're all fresh faces. You've seen their actions on TV, but it's not quite the same. Hopefully there won't be too many surprises, but you've got to roll with the punches a little bit when you haven't faced them before,” the 29-year-old observed.
Cowan made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Queensland-c834
in the Ryobi One-Day Cup, and totals such as 82, 77, 143, and 71 in the Sheffield Shield.
Despite the fact that he failed to impress in the recent tour match against the West Indies Cricket Board President's XI at the Three Ws Oval in Bridgetown, managing 12 and an unbeaten 28, the left-hander will be opening the innings alongside http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DA-Warner-c1301.
Commenting on the wicket at the Kensington Oval, Cowan claimed that it was likely to be quick and pacer-friendly.
“I think Bridgetown will probably be the quickest of the three wickets we play on. There is not a blade of grass on it,” he said.
“There should be a bit of pace with the new ball, but will slow down as the game goes on.”
The first Test of the series is scheduled to take place in Barbados, after which the second and third Tests will take place in Trinidad and Dominica, respectively.
