Cowboy birthday party for my 3yr old son! Got any good ideas?

In a month my son will be turning 3! How exciting! Anyways... we have decided to have a cowboy themed party. I was just wondering if anyone had any good ideas for decor, games, goodie bags, etc. (We have a big BBQ with the bday party) My mind is full of ideas but just wondering if there was anything I hadn't thought of!

Things I have already purchased: Black and white cow print balloons and table cloth, red balloons, red plates, napkins, and silverware.

Plus, I will be making him a cowboy hat cake.

  1. have some cowboy beans or baked beans along with that meal! Also have fun with the goodie bags, use the standard stuff like noise makers and cowboy little mini people also little mini farm animals would be great. Games to play have pin the tail on the donkey they have a magnetic version now and you could still have balloons to have all over just make them colored with the theme..serve some cowtail candies (caramel candies)..freeze tag is always a fun game. Have some of those plastic cowboy hats to go around for the kids you can purchase those at walmart, party city places and search the internet for cheap party supplies! Don't forget to have some horse decor as well. You can use a pinata just for decor! or a cowboy/sherrif's badge

  2. Pony rides?  Or is he too young?

  3. If there is a party city near you then you can go and find pin the cowboy on the saddle game.

  4. have daddy dress up as the local bandit and have each child (they should all be dressed with a sherriff's badge)  take a pic with him (arresting him).

Have the bday boy make a grand entrance on either a real horse or a wagon pulled by you. Wagon can be dressed up with straw. Play the Bonanza theme as he makes his entrance.

Do wanted posters as invites. Have bandanas, hats and badges ready for each child as they arrive.

Do a toy or candy hunt throughout the backyard.

They're only 3, so they'll have a blast just chasing each other around and squirting their water guns, eating hotdogs, cake and candy!

  5. 3 is a great age!  ... but I laugh at those answers who suggested "Pin the Tail on the Donkey" - ROFL!  The tail would end up on the other guests!  ....  A bounce house is perfect for all that energy;  maybe you could pretend it's an old-time Western jail!   ...  Squirt guns would be great for them too (as long as the other moms don't object to guns)  ...  Organized activities for that age are a little tough:)  I'd just let them bounce and run around.  If you have sprinklers they could run through (or some of the water sprinkler attachments at Walmart), that'd be good too .....

  6. you have to serve Sasparilla *rootbeer*

    ummm......cowtails candy......they are cute

cupcakes that look like teepees would be cute

use cheap cowboy hats as grab bags

have a pin the tail on the cow competition

have a best cow call competition

play plastic horseshoes........I could go on and on....hope that helps

  7. red and white checkered table clothes, play pin the tail on the cow/bull, maybe have a cowboy hat pinata, cactus decor or maybe a cardboard covered wagon for the kids to play around or in, cheap red bandannas for all the kids and or adults to have neck-kerchiefs, cowboys boot-cut outs for table decor, sheriffs badges, you could also use the bandannas and some twine for the favor bags, get some of the little gold/yellow colored bubble gum rock and call them gold nuggets,

below I found a site that people have submitted ALL kinds of ideas for what your looking for.....sounds fun and good luck
