Cowboys' Coach Jason Garrett urges players to focus on next game – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has always believed that players should focus on the task in hand and ignore every other thing. He still thinks the same way and urged his players on Tuesday to forget about the defeat against
New York Giants and shift their attention to this weekend’s game.
The Cowboys had a 12-point lead over Giants with around six minutes left on the clock. However, Giants came back strongly to rattle them and emerge victorious at the end of the game. A victory would have given the Cowboys a two-game
lead over Giants and sole supremacy of the National Football Conference East division, but that did not happen.
Cowboys have three games left in the regular season. They are going to take on Tampa Bay Buccaneers now and the coach wants everyone to focus on that game.
"That's our message really on a daily basis. Ask players and coaches to come in here and try to be their best every day so we can be our best," Garrett said. "They've been hearing that from me from minute one, and I think it still
applies. I think it actually applies even more right now."
The loss, however, cannot easily be forgotten by the players. After the practice session on Tuesday, cornerback Orlando Scandrick expressed disappointment over the recent defeat, but vowed to get good results in the rest of the
games.
"It's going to take a lot to put this behind us mentally, because it was like having your heart ripped out," he said. "We can't go back and turn the clocks back... We're going to be better, I promise you."
Meanwhile, the coach and the other Cowboys players have stepped in to encourage Dan Bailey who missed the final kick that would have sent the game against the Giants to overtime.
Before this defeat, Cowboys had played against Arizona Cardinals. Bailey missed a kick in that game as well, and his team eventually lost that game.
Overall, Bailey has a good record as a kicker. He has sent 31 successful kicks this season missing only four. The coach said that he wants Bailey to keep doing what he does and be mentally strong.
