Cowboys aim to dominate Cardinals at University of Phoenix Stadium – NFL Week 13 Preview
Last week, Dallas Cowboys defeated Miami Dolphins in a thrilling encounter to ensure their dominance in the National Football Conference East division by grabbing a complete one-game lead over New York Giants. To retain their supremacy
in the division in order to seal their place in the playoffs, they will have to beat Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in the week 13 of the National Football League current season at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
On paper, the equation seems simple; beat them and move forward! However, on the big day anything can happen and it would be an understatement to say that the game would be one-sided. Given the fact that Cardinals are expecting
the return of their quarterback Kevin Kolb, Cowboys are anticipating a tough encounter.
Notwithstanding the Cardinals preparation, Dallas Cowboys are confident that they can win the battle. Their claim does not seem absurd when one looks at their line-up and checks the records of Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray and Dan
Bailey. And what if Felix Jones returns?
Cowboys’ coach Jason Garrett wants his team to be the champion and thinks that the players have got all the qualities of a winner.
"The teams that play in the playoffs and win in the playoffs are the teams that get better," he said. "We believe that if you improve over the course of the season, week-to-week, you are going to be playing well when you need to
be playing really well, and that's the end of the year."
Cardinals will be relying on two big guns. One is the injured quarterback Kevin Kolb, who has been missed badly during the last two games. His participation in the game is likely as he remained active in the practice sessions throughout
the week.
Kolb’s replacement, John Skelton, started off well, but failed miserably during the last two games. Kolb is ready to take his place back, but Cardinals’ coach Ken Whisenhunt is still cautious.
“I’m not going to say, ‘Yes, he’ll play’ and then something happens between now and then with his foot, because it really comes down to the soreness. But it looks like he’ll play,” the coach said.
Cardinals will also be counting on cornerback Patrick Peterson who returned an 80-yard punt to a touchdown in the last week victory against St. Louis Rams. If he successfully returns another punt to a touchdown, he will become
the first player to do it five times in a single season.
