Cowboys’ defence charging up for Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning – NFL News
As Dallas Cowboys prepare to face New York Giants in the week 14 encounter of the National Football League current season, Giants’ quarterback Eli Manning remains a potential threat for the Cowboys’ defence.
Playing for the Giants since last eight years, Manning has been one of the most dependable players of his team. On top of that, he is having one of the best seasons this year, which indeed is an alarming sign for the Cowboys.
In 12 games this season, Manning has completed 276 passes of 442 attempts for 3,705 yards with an average of 8.4 yards per throw. He also has 23 touchdowns to his credit. During the last week lost against Green Bay Packers, he
successfully sent 23 passes of 40 attempts for 347 yards while recording three touchdowns. His quarterback-rating for the game was 100.7.
Cowboys are aware of this threat, and are preparing accordingly.
Linebacker Keith Brooking thinks that Giants’ have a very strong offensive line and termed it their main strength. He also praised Manning saying that the quarterback is having best time of his life this career and that he’s making
‘great decisions’.
Cowboys (7-5) are currently leading the National Football Conference East division with a full one-game lead over Giants (6-6). Four weeks ago, Giants were in-charge of the division, but their four consecutive defeats have pushed
them at second place in the division ranking. If Giants defeat Cowboys on Sunday, both teams will tie for the first place.
The Cowboys’ defence is trying to ensure that it does not allow Giants to accelerate on the big day. Cornerback Mike Jenkins thinks that the team should not repeat the past mistakes if it wants to dominate the Giants.
“We've had games where we didn't put both halves together and we've definitely had games where we've played lights-out defense. Around this time of year we're going to have to put everything together," he said. "We're going to
have to come out in the first half and play good and come out in the second half and play good.
"We can't do this one-quarter thing – (one) quarter come out and be good and then be mediocre the next quarter. But overall, I think we've been playing pretty balanced defense."
Meanwhile, Cowboys’ kicker Dan Bailey, who missed the kick in the last week game against Arizona Cardinals and forced the game to overtime, has said that he is using the missed opportunity to motivate himself.
