Cowboys look for easy win over weak Buccaneers – NFL Preview Week 15
The Dallas Cowboys will take on struggling Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday at the Raymond James Stadium.
The Cowboys will look to get back on track after imploding spectacularly in the second half last week against New York Giants losing 37-34. Leading by 12-points late in the fourth quarter the Cowboys managed to lose their lead
right at the death The Giants led by quarterback Eli Manning retook the lead at 37-34 with just 46-seconds left in regular time. The game was not over yet. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo got his team within field goal range.
Taking a crucial field goal that would have taken the game to overtime rookie Dan Bailey sent the ball through the uprights successfully from 47-yards but it didn’t count as Giants Coach Tom Coughlin called a timeout. Bailey had
to do it over again and this time luck was not on his side as Giants Defensive End Jason Pierre-Paul successfully got a hand to the ball and securing the Giants victory.
Except for the defeat the Cowboys had other bad news to deal with as star running back DeMarco Murray was taken off the field in the first quarter with a fractured right ankle. Murray has been in excellent form for the Cowboys
but quarterback Tony Romo believes that replacement Felix Jones is more than capable of taking the responsibility.
"DeMarco has been a big part of this offense and big part of this football team," Romo said. "We are lucky to have a guy like Felix, obviously, who can step in."
The Cowboys still have a chance to win the division with three games left and their second game against the New York Giants will be crucial to clinch the division and title.
"We still control our own destiny," Coach Jason Garrett said. "I think our players understand."
Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be much of a threat to Dallas Cowboys. The Bucs are losing confidence with each game they play. A humiliating 41-14 loss to Jacksonville Jaguars last week who have one of the worst offensive line-ups
in the league has really put pressure on Coach Raheem Morris to turn things around. Rumours about him losing his job are also circulating although Morris denies any threat.
"It's great for you guys to scare my family half to death and talk about that stuff all throughout," Morris said. "But for us, man, it's a mentally tough business. It is move on. It is next opponent. It's next man up. It's the
Dallas Cowboys. ... For me, a chance to ruin Jason Garrett's season, and let you talk about him."
Tampa Bay who are 4-9 this season will hope that quarterback Josh Freeman has one of his better games. After a promising 2010 season the quarterback has been erratic this season with just 12 touchdowns and 18 interceptions to his
name.
Freeman on his part will look to put behind the misery from the Jaguars game and try to rip apart a less than solid Cowboys defence.
The Cowboys should be confident of taking a win from this game since they face a Buccaneers side that is low on confidence. A high scoring finish is likely on the cards with the Bucs defence in such poor form.
