Cowboys promote rookie wide receiver Dwayne Harris from practice squad – NFL News
Dallas Cowboys rookie wide receiver Dwayne Harris received good news on Wednesday when the management promoted him to the active roster from the practice squad.
The 24-year-old rookie is playing his first professional season. He is still unaware of his role in the Saturday’s game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but is pleased to be placed on the active roster.
“I don't know yet," he said. "I'm still open-minded to anything. Whatever they need me to do, I'm a team player. Whatever the team needs me to do I'm going to go out there and do it to the best of my ability."
Harris played first five games of the season, but was sent to the practice squad after that. After getting a comeback call, he is excited and thinks that he has learned a lot during the eight weeks he spent on the practice squad.
“I think I’ve become a better player in the last few weeks,” he said. “You learn a lot when you’re playing behind some of the guys like Miles and Dez and Laurent Robinson. I’ve just tried to work on the little things. But I’m excited
to be back.”
Meanwhile, linebacker DeMarcus Ware missed the practice session on Wednesday owing to a neck injury, but the player thinks that he will make it to the final line-up without any trouble on Saturday.
On the other hand, the Cowboys have placed quarterback Jon Kitna on injured reserve. Kitna, who serves as a backup quarterback, fears to have his season ended after a back injury. In the absence of the 39-year-old veteran, Stephen
McGee is expected to serve as Tony Romo’s backup.
Cowboys are tied with New York Giants for first place in the National Football Conference East division with seven victories and six defeats. A serious blow came for them in the form of running back DeMarco Murray’s injury, which
has ended the season for the player. More injuries can significantly hurt their hopes of entering the playoffs.
After the Buccaneers, they are going to take on Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants in week 16 and 17 respectively. They have to ensure victories in all the three games if they want to reach the postseason by topping the division.
