Coworker issues, Need advice!!!?

So here is the deal, I LOVE my job to pieces. I have been asked to take on more duties without pay, and have gladly done them, and done them well. I have most of the other staff complementing my performance and saying I need a raise. (Because we are union, we dont get raises based on performance). The ASB advisor has appreciated my work so much, that she has offered me to split her stipend so I can receive compensation. I have done these extra duties for 2 years without extra compensation, and am so happy to finally be rewarded and recognized for all my late nights and hard work.

When this coworker heard that I would be getting my own office and stipend, she has tried to weasel her way into my job by trying to catch mistakes and checking emails to make sure I am working. I have nothing to hide, but its making me nuts. She has done things like delete files off my flash drive, and incorrectly translate conversations and documents (she is a translator and is below myself and most others in the office, she is supposed to translate word for word, not add information to the conversation), She has given my name to callers and said questionable things, and when all attempts to bust me were failed- she confronted me and tried to get me react, I kept my composure to her dismay.

Anyway, I know it sounds like I am handling this great, but here is my problem. I am pregnant, and am going to take advantage of my leave so I can spend time with my baby. As of January, I will not be at work. Of course, I dont expect the world to stop turning, and we usually get sub's for this reason. Because I deal with financial accounts, a fingerprinted employee has to manage the account- Not a sub. The above mentioned coworker has "graicously" offered to handle the financial accounts while I am out. I am supposed to begin training her next month and continue to do so until I am off on leave. I am concerned that she is going to mess with the accounts during training, or worse really eff them up when I am out. I am tempted to request a transfer to another site when I return to work so I can start fresh. Here is another side note... this employee was caught committing fraud and the union backed her so she couldnt be fired. The boss who dealt with this issue and all of the other confrontations has been transferred to another site, so our new boss really has no idea on who to trust. I am also concerned because she doesnt receive money for doing anything except greeting visitors, answering phones and translations- per her job description. I am concerneed she is going to try to sue again- this time because she is doing job assignments out of her classificatoin. I would like to sit down with my new boss and explain my concerns about this person taking over accounts, however because she hasnt seen it unfold first hand, I think she will think its petty personality conflict versus job ethics.

How should I handle this? Should I just let the work I have worked so hard on be ruined, and find another position once I am ready to go back to work? Should I confront this head on- even though I am still having a baby and still going to be out for months?

  1. I would speak w/my boss re: ur concern.  However, if they continue to have u train her for ur temp leave of absence then do just that and train her 2 the best of abilities.. I would leave notes behind for the co-worker 2 follow 2 prove that u did teach her what she needs 2 know.  I would also make copies of the notes.. h**l why not have her sign them and then u make a copy to protect ur hyde.. but if any of the accts get screwed up it won't be ur problem!!

  2. Maye your co-worker wants your position. And she might be promoted once you leave.  Keep in mind that a large company does not have to offer you the same position when you come back. as long as they have a job for you and it is the same pay.

And a small company doesn't have to save your position at all. they can hire some one else to do your job and tell  you that you don't have a job, when you return.

If your co-worker mess up you accounts, it will reflect on her and not on you.  If your customers really like you they will be happy when you return.  You might want to tell your ac *****, that you are going on maternity and that so and so will handle their accounts. And, that if there is a problem they cal also contact your supervisor and give them her/his name and phone number with extension.

  3. Don't worry to much about that person because sooner or later this person will soon have to defend her self. again and all the truth will come out. and she would have dug her own hole and you really don't have to do anything her true colors will show and the new boss eye brow will raise and make the better decision for the company. sometimes speaking up on some one only looks like revenge on your behalf let that person lay in the bed that she is making. and always watch your back and pay attention to what area in which you are training her so that she cannot mess things up for you  good luck and congratulation on your new arrival at this point focus on your mental health for the baby and your self and keep handling things in a positive way and every thing will work out fine for you.
