Question:

Coyotes waiting outside to eat the chihuahuas inside!!!!!!!!!!?

My friend has small chihuahuas he keeps outdoors and the problem is that it's a coyote area so many of them show up there trying to figure out how to get inside the fenced yard. The fence is only about 3 feet high on one side.

The owner is gone for days and weeks, so I go there to feed them. But I can only go every 2 days due to being busy.

The dogs sleep inside a shed with a doggie door but they always run outside when they hear the coyotes howl which is why I am worried. They can't be kept inside because it's 110 degrees during the day.

So what's the best solution? Are there products that can keep the coyotes away???????

  1. Call the police or animal control for help.

At least animal control will be more humane than your friend is to these dogs. Even if they are euthanized because your friend fails to claim them, their fate will be better than being ravaged and killed by coyotes. While they are not your dogs, they certainly need to be provided humane care at all times and protected from coyotes!  What kind of nonsense is this!

  2. Give the dogs to someone with more time for them!!!

Leaving them out to be threatened by wildlife, and cooked in the sun is inhumane.

If it's 110 degrees in the house, what is the temp in that shed?

If it's 110 degrees in the house, the yard can't be all that much cooler.

    Every 2 DAYS!!!!

    Are you kidding?

Please tell me these dogs get more care than every 2 days...

    EDIT TO ADD:

Most houses have this new fangled invention called AIR CONDITIONING!

  3. The problem is coyotes CALL dogs out to them... they also dig under fences and once they are killing in an area there is not lots you can do...

YOU can try repellents from feed store or off line not sure if thre are any coyote repellents.

Get bebe gun and sit out there and take care of them.  Like plan to go over to his house to live during times you are taking care of dogs.  ALSO install a few big motion dector lights as coyotes do not like lights.

Take the dogs to your house if you really want to take care of them... it is really the only safe option if he is in coyote infested area.

  4. just never let the dog outside by itself... i live in the country so i know what its like and there is nothing you can do to keep them away.... i know its hard, but everytime the dog is outside make sure someone is always with him... theres really nothing more you can do,,,

  5. No way to justify this - chihuahuas need to be inside - in climate control, such extremes of temperature are not something they can tolerate - they need to be air conditioned and heated in extreme weather.

As to keeping the coyotes away, that's nuts - they know there's a tasty snack outside where it normally wouldn't be.

Then there's the issue of feeding these little things every other day - what the heck are you thinking of????

Chis have trouble regulating their blood sugar at the best of times - they need frequent meals, not to starve a day.

Please --- tell your friend to give his dogs to a rescue so they can find good homes before they die of:

    coyote attack

    heat prostration

    low blood sugar causing coma

This boggles the mind - how can anyone have chis under such horrendous conditions - these are delicate dogs --- not outside, feed every other day mutts.

God lord - never heard of anything so awful - worse than puppy mills.

  6. Wow. That's..well scary

You could try and call Animal Control officers(yes, there is such a thing)

They will take care of your problem, hopefully.

I really hope that the dogs will stay safe because I am a doggy lover :)

    Let me know :-)

  7. well chihuahuas aren't outdoor dogs...if it's 110 degrees inside..what is the temp outside?

take the dogs inside (THE HOUSE!)! and turn the ac or fans on??

  8. Well if you dont put them inside the will DIE no doubt. the coyotes will eat them. put them inside if you dont want them dead! turn down the dang thermostat if it is 110 dregrees! WHY is is 110 dergrees anyway?

  9. If your friend is concerned about the chi's safety.. then he should put them INSIDE THE AIR CONDITIONED HOUSE!

Why are the dogs in a shed?  That's not really a good place for dogs to live.  Chis are meant to be companion dogs and really do better to be inside with the family.

Itss110-90 degrees, yet these dogs are being checked on every other day?  As hot as it is, they need their water freshened several times a day.  What if the water spills?  They can die of dehydration and overheat very quickly.

If he doesnt have the means to care for them properly, then the dogs should be rehomed.

  10. those chihuahuas are not meant to be out side dogs a shed is no home for one .

they  should be inside a house with Heat in the winter and Air conditioning in the summer . your friends need to get rid of their dogs to some one who will take care of them right .

  11. umm how about getting a crate and crating them so they can be inside? thats way they cant wreck the house or go pee/poo inside. best solution i can think of...
