  1. Take suntan lotion. HAVE FUN. I was at playa del carmen for my honeymoon. It was awesome! You will have a great time. Watch out for the ATM machines. They charge a lot and only give out pesos! Take a few checks and normally the hotel front desk or local bank can cash them. Take the tour of Tulum. they also have a catamaran close by you could go on and snorkel by a huge coral reef in the Caribbean.

  2. Go to Xel Ha.  It's on the mainland (~30 minute boat ride), but so worth the trip!!!!  It's a natural waterpark--go swimming with the dolphins, check out some grottos, and tube down some lazy rivers!

  3. Travel light - swimwear, shorts and t-shirts.  Sunscreen, hat, shades.  Check out Chankanaab, excellent snorkeling.  Pop into Chedraui, Mexico's answer to WalMart.  Take the feery over to Playa del Carmen for a day.

Coz is more laid back and low-key than say Cancun (party town) - it draws a lot of divers.  The reefs are incredible.

Check out this website, lots of tips on where to stay, eat, what to do:

"There’s an island in everyone’s dreams — a place for relaxing and recharging, for fun and sun, to experience or just to be. That island is Cozumel. Come see for yourself how everything on our island has a purpose, even if that purpose is doing nothing at all.

From golf to delightful restaurants just for the two of you, cafés, long romantic walks by the incredibly colored sea. Try kite surfing, deep sea or fly fishing, sailing, a siesta in a lazy hammock, tour a fascinating museum, explore our national marine park, nightlife or just watch the sunset, sunrise or the stars in the Caribbean sky. Bring your group or incentives travelers for an unforgettable event! Cozumel. Live in the moment."

  5. Wonderful place to scuba!  If you're not certified, I would get certified before the trip if possible.  It's just amazing to see all the fish, sea turtles, moray eels, octopi, etc.  If you can't get certified in time, then definitely go snorkling.  Not quite as fun, but still a good time.  Rent a jeep and travel around the island.  There's some really great blowholes on the southeast side of the island.  Great photo opportunity!  I was just there in December and plan to go back in August!  Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the sun!
