I am giong to Cozumel next month one a cruise so we will only be in port from 1 to 10 pm.

DOes anyone know where the port is? Is it close ot the beaches? I don't want to do a cruiseline excusrion as we have cruised before and find them to be really expensive. Any information on what we can do from our cruise port with a limited amount of time and small budget would be appreciated.

  1. If you want to go to the beaches, they have some beach clubs south of the Port where you can drive to or take a Taxi.  You pay to get in and you can go snorkling etc.  The east side beaches are untouched and this is where turtles nest their eggs.  You can rent a Jeep and drive over there.  The water is much rougher with a strong undertow, so be careful if you go swimming on the east side.

Check out www.travelnotes.cc and go to Cozumel chatters for all the info you would need.

  2. we were in Cozumel recently and to be honest, we pretty much just stayed in the shopping district. It is about a mile or so from the cruise ship docks.

I saw a few people offering taxis to the beaches, but I don't know where they were.

  3. I've been to Cozumel twice and seem to recall the cruise ships docking on the coast that faces Mexico, right next to the main part of town on Cozumel. The island really isn't that big, you can go to the other side and back in less than a day renting a jeep or scooters, but if you want to stay close to your port then there is plenty of beach to go to nearby. The beaches right next to town and the port might be more crowded, so you might want to go just a little ways away. Other than that, enjoy Cozumel! It's a great place, the town is full of life and the scenery is just breathtaking.

why didn't you just google it?

  5. Right in front of the island is located Playa Del Carmen, which is nice, most of it is a shopping zone, but what I definitely recommend you is to  go on a snorkeling tour, it lasts about 2/12 hours or so, have fun!
