CrAzY criminal question?

okay say a criminal is on the run from cops

he needs a car, and he stumbles along your car parked on the curb

he breaks the window and hotwires the car

but he is such a bad driver he crashes into another car of yours in the

driveway...and the cops catch him!

whoo hoo right!?

well would the government/cops

pay for your damaged cars or what!!!

  2. No they would not.  However the criminal could be ordered to pay restitution.  Hope this didn't happen to you.

  3. I hope you have comprehensive auto insurance.  Your car was stolen and wrecked.  It is now up to your insurance company to replace your car, or repair it.  If you have no insurance, then sue the criminal and good luck ever seeing anything out of them.  Otherwise, have a happy day.

  5. Not unless the negligent acts of the cops caused the damage.  As pursuing a criminal is not necessarily negligent, and is their duty, if you showed nothing beyond what is in your question, you would lose a suit trying to get the government to pay.
