Crab Orchard defeat Piaget by 16-9 in US Open Polo Championship
Hilario Ulloa and Adolfo Cambiaso marked fifteen goals and each had an assist to carry Crab Orchard to a 16-9 victory over Piaget in the round match of the 2011 United States Open Polo Championship. The one-sided contest was held at the International Polo
Club, where Adolfo Cambiaso and company marked sixteen goals against the nine of their contenders.
Crab Orchard not only won the game, but with a great margin and earned a spot in the quarter-final round with emerging as the most favourite foursome.
The legendary team of Crab Orchard commenced the game in quite an aggressive way and marked five goals, while holding Piaget only for a single score. Ulloa marked the opening four goals of the game of which two came on penalty-shots, while other from the
field. Nachi du Plessis scored another goal from the field and expanded the lead up to five points. Nachi Heguy scored the only goal of the period for Piaget to close-out the period with Crab Orchard holding a commanding four-goal advantage by 5-1.
The second chukka was also dominated by Crab Orchard which obtained another three points while minimising Piaget only for two goals. Adolfo Cambiaso notched a couple of goals, while Ulloa added another goal from the field to stretch the lead up to seven
scores. The Piaget attack came alive, but they could only score only two goals in the seven and half minute of play. Lolo Castagnola and Heguy scored one goal each to show their presence onto the field. The chukka ended with Crab Orchard holding a five-goal
lead, 8-3.
The players of Crab Orchard increased their speed and marked two goals, while reducing Crab Orchard only for a single point. Castagnola nailed another two goals to cut the Crab Orchard lead up to three goals. But Ulloa connected on a penalty-shot and regained
a four-goal lead, 9-5.
Cambiaso demonstrated an outstanding game in the second half and enchanted the spectators a lot. He justified by his world ranking and delivering a wonderful performance in the match. He scored three more points in the fourth set of play creating heavy pressure
for Piaget. Heguy notched another goal to remain in the game. The fourth set of the play concluded with Crab Orchard hanging on to a six-goal, 12-6 advantage.
The two sides traded a couple of goals in the fifth set of the play and moved ahead for final action. Heguy scored off a couple of penalty-shots. But Cambiaso and Ulloa added one goal each and retained their six-point lead, 14-8.
In the final set of play, Cambiaso and his team-mate, Ulloa, scored another two goals which were responded from a solitary effort from Heguy. Crab Orchard won the game by a convincing seven-goal lead, 16-9.
The win also lifted Crab Orchard to the quarter-final round and it would face Las Monjitas on April 10, 2011.
