  1. go to a boat shop like west marine and ask for MARINE TEX its a 2 part chemocal like epoxy. IT WILL WORK!!! I have fixed cracks in engine cases with it no problem. In fact it is so strong it can be machined. wear gloves do not let it touch your skin. read the directions carefully.it has a compressive strength of 13,000 p.s.i. check out there website just type in MARINE TEX EPOXY PUTTY.

  2. I've never had any luck with any of the chemical solutions..Some of them work OK for sealing. JB weld and Loctite Hysol are good adhesives, but for a repair on an area that's subject to stress, heat, and oil your best bet (short of replacing the pan) would be to take it to a welding shop and have them repair it.

  3. youre supposed to smoke crack, not waste it on your bike

  4. NEVER try a chemical repair on anything which comes in contact with oil, especially hot oil! Take it to a welding shop and have it TIG welded.  If you can not find one, you may contact me, you may send me the pan, I will repair it, and return by UPS or post.   I am not advertising for business, but want to save everyone the hassle of trying to repair a cracked oil pan, after it is coated with epoxy.  Nasty.

  5. JB Weld might work, alternatively; it could be welded or an sheet aluminum patch epoxied to the inside.  Double check that the JB Weld or epoxy is rated to at least 300°F, and for exposure to hot oil.

They can be welded by someone with the correct equipment.  It will not be cheap - and if it, don't go there.  Welding aluminum castings is not easy until you have a great deal of experience and the right equipment.

Anyway you go, you need to the the pan very clean.

For JB Weld or epoxied patch, clean with Dawn dish soap and water, until no more oil comes off.  Then rough up the area with 50 grit sand paper.  Reclean with Dawn and water - keeping finger oils away from the part.  Finally, rinse with isopropyl alcohol, let dry for a few minutes, then apply the adhesive.
