Crackentorp in form to strike the seasonal debut, the Sportingbet Jorvik Stakes (Handicap) at York
The Class 2 Sportingbet Jorvik Stakes (Handicap) will be staged at York over a mile and four furlongs on Friday, 18th May. The line-up of sixteen has a few entries who have reasonable experience of racing at York, with a single candidate who has won there but during the previous season. The prize money set for the winner is £28,464.
Crackentorp, Generous’ seven-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Raspberry Sauce, has won two out of the three York races that he took part in.
He won the Queen Mother’s Cup (Lady Amateur Riders’ Handicap) on 11th June over a mile and four furlongs. He led by a head’s difference and set Inspirina into the second spot while riding with Miss. J. Coward.
The 15/2 joint favourites of the race, Bowdler’s Magic and Antigua Sunrise, finished fourth and ninth on the field of sixteen.
On 19th August, Crackentorp won the Racing UK On Sky Bet Mobile Stakes (Handicap) at York over a mile and four furlongs. Coupled with David Allan for the race, he led by a very narrow margin and made Kiama Bay settle second.
The 13/2 favourite of the race had to come at terms with the sixth position on the track of twenty.
His season ended with a Market Rasen win in the Corona Extra Novices’ Hurdle on 1st December over two miles and three furlongs. He took charge of the final six lengths and was the 6/4 joint favourite winner with Richie McGrath riding.
Finishing the closest was the other joint favourite of the race, Hawk Mountain, who had Dougie Costello onboard.
His 2012 campaign is taking off after quite a long rest and that too at the race course that he finds easy to win on. Two of the three wins that he amassed in 2011 were at York.
War Poet, Deauville Flyer and Easy Terms are those entries who have already made their mark through the seasonal debuts and will need to be looked out for during the race.
Out of the three, only Deauville Fyler has raced at York but not during the current season and neither has been able to post a victory through a race there in 2011.
