  1. Pipe-cleaner people. Their like dolls except cheaper and you make them yourself. You can also design clothes for them.

  2. Fuzzy flipflops are fun to make and simple enough for the person beginning to crochet.  See instructions here:

    http://www.myrawood.com/pages/flips.html

You just need a crochet hook( if you don't have one get one cheap at goodwill or other thrift shop), one skein of yarn,  (check a dollar store our is everythings a dollar or big lots), and one pair of flipflops (also at the dollar store or big lots).

Fun project for about $2.00 and some change.

  3. there are LOTS.

bookmark-making.. paper mache making.. baking!! try poetry, or fiction-writing.. consider them as art.

  4. 1.Toilet Paper Roll crafts

2.Fill a jar with water, oil and a little food coloring to make your own personal ocean

3.Use a plastic jar to pack away a time capsule.  Put in a picture of yourself, a piece of string as long as you are tall, a tracing of your hand and a list of all your favorite things.  Be sure to label the lid with the date.  Put it away for a year or two.  Then open it and see just how much you have changed.

    4.Build a cardboard skyscrapper

Start by collecting cardboard boxes in various sizes. Tape the boxes shut with packing tape, then stack and tape them atop each other. Using markers or crayons, your kids can decorate the boxes with windows, columns, gargoyles, mailboxes and so on. They might also add some 3-D touches, such as tissue paper flowers and bushes, construction paper flags or even some plastic figurines.

  5. My nine year old loves the inexpensive craft kits from Michael's. They have everything from cross-stitch to jewelry making. Check out this link for some ideas: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/stati...

  6. My 8 yr old likes to do plastic canvas. You can trace a picture from a coloring book and fill it in. The "canvas" itself is around 25cents and the yarn can be bought for less than $2 Latch hook is also inexpensive.

  7. Beading is good, although it might be a bit expensive depending on your price range. Nearly all girls enjoy beading though. Beading is easy and they can show off the jewelery they have made afterwards.

Scrapbooking is another, but you have to keep stocking up on paper etc. which might be too expensive.

There are heaps of crafts out there, especially for young girls, so I'm sure you will find one soon! =]
