Question:

Craft ideas for a 10 yr old girl birthday party....?

I was thinking about letting the girls decorate canvas tote bags with paint, ribbon and beads. My niece then said it might take too long and suggest decorating flip flops. What do you think would be the easiest, and cheapest. There will be about 10 girls at the party and I am looking to spend about an hour and they are going to have to pretty much do it on their own as there is only 1 of me.

Thanks in advance

  1. What if you took them to Build A Bear?  That is a pretty neat place.  I look my son there when he was small and he loved making his very own stuffed pet dog.  Stamp art is quick and you can get a bunch of tshirts or visors.

  2. as for cheap, try letting the kids help bake and decorate cupcakes?

  3. um well i will have 2 say that is a very good idea  smart thinking i might use that 4 next year

  4. I remember decorating cookies/cupcakes when I was around that age...like the other poster suggested.

If you have the time to decorate something like tote bags/flip flops then that sounds cool too. But if it takes too long they might get bored.

  5. When you get a bunch of 10 year olds together at a friend's house it's going to be hard to hold them together for a craft that takes much time.  This I learned from YEARS of doing children's parties.

The flip flops wont take as long, will be cheaper and they will actually wear them home probably.  Use a cool temp glue gun, borrow one or two from friends to make it quicker.  and let the birthday girl help you pick out the decorating items.

But a bunch of flip flops in different sizes and colors, keep the receipt and return the ones you don't use.

Have fun, but don't worry about organized chaos, it's the sign of a GREAT party!

  6. Well if you know of the craft stickers that take different shapes of things (foam stickers) sold in most craft stores and you can make door handle signs and there are tiaras and stuff and have them put there names on it or something, or you could have them each write cute little books to give to one another, or have them do cool paintings, or have them make bead jewlery I used to love doing that or find some clay cups for them to paint and design with there names on them in cute letters.

  7. My girls enjoyed both, but prefered the flip flops and they don't take as long as the totes.
