I am a member of a Yahoo Group which has people get assigned a child (as well as get their own assigned too) .. Once you get assigned a child you must send them a small package every month. (6x9 envelope) For Jan, Mar, May, etc it has to include a activity and a craft thats suits the age of that child. The other months you send a reading of some sort and stickers.

I have a daughter who is just about 1, but I have no idea what to get this 2 year old girl. I just can't seem to think of any crafts/activities to send her. Any ideas?

  1. i had to make a paper plate hat w/ my little sister.

1.) you take a paper plate; cut the edges off

    2.) decorate the top

3.) then hole punch holes on opposite sides of the plate

4.) put a ribbon or string through the holes and tie it tight but not to tight

  2. Children's computer learning games are good for 2 year olds and it keeps them thinking. Or maybe, a workbook for a small child that has coloring pages, picking out a-like objects, ect.

  3. I would send coloring books and fun crayons. I would send glitter crayons or something special along with the book.

  4. Hi!  Sounds like a great YaHoo Group you're in!  In my preschool classroom, the kids that age used to love to do these activities:

    1.  "Anything Goes!" Collage - You will need:  Small sheets of construction paper (you can cut them to fit your envelope), & a zipped sandwich bag, filled with small "odds & ends" of a variety of colorful yarns, cloth, paper scraps, foil, feathers, etc.  I recommend using a glue stick with this one!

    2.  "Shapes" Collage - Similar to #1, but instead of filling the bag with "odds & ends", fill it with large and small circles, triangles, and squares cut from cloth, textured paper (available at craft stores), or construction paper.  She can use a glue stick, and glue the shapes on any way she wants, to make a fun design!  Kids love the feel of it, too!

    3.  Crayons - a small box of 4-8 should fit nicely in there, and can also be used to decorate either of the above "collages" when the glue is dry.

Best wishes to you - hope all goes well !

  5. I did this craft with my two year old.

Gave her two pieces of construction paper one folded in half with a shape drawn on it to cut out, one for a background.  I gave her scissors to cut the shape out and glue to glue the shape onto the background.  Then I gave her stickers to stick all over the picture.  For Valentines day the shape was a heart for Easter the shape was a flower.

She couldn't really cut on the lines but it was neat to see her try and the end result was priceless and a GREAT gift for grandma!  Which made her feel extra special.

  6. maby you should get her a coloring book and a alphebet game that helps you learn the alphebet. thats what i would give her .

  7. Finger painting, treasure hunt, mask making, ect.

  8. 1) Crafty young gardeners know just how to make bare branches bloom in winter -- they just add tissue paper. Gather branches that have fallen outside; let dry, if necessary. Cut out 2-inch squares of pink tissue, pinch tightly in the middle to create blooms, and affix them to branches with white glue. Display in a tall container, such as a canning jar with the lid's center removed.

    2)Rock Frog How-To

    1. Glue rocks together before painting them, attaching small stone features such as eyes, feet, or beaks to body parts before joining larger parts; attach whiskers and tails after painting. Cement glue makes the strongest bond but should be used only by parents working in a well-ventilated area. (Kid-friendly glues are less durable and are best for rock crafts that will sit on shelves.)

  9. When my sister was little, I used to cut out papers to look like the parts of a car-tires, headlights, taillights, windows, etc.  She glued them on a cardboard box, we cut handles out and she would take off "running" in her car.
