Craftsman lawn mower and the problem is that the machine turns off / runs really slowly when on.?

Maybe water in the gas, or a clogged filter, or a bad plug or plug wire?

Your lawnmower probably just needs a tuneup, take it to a repair shop.  

You should have them sharpen the blade while you are there too.  It will give you a better cut.

if it has a tecumseh ,engine on it  it's a bad flywheel key that causes the timing out of wack , dos't rev up , it will sit there and idle only .

Much as I like answer #1, I gotta ask:  Gas or electric?

Have you checked to see if it has oil?
