Craig Bellamy joins Cardiff City on loan
Craig Bellamy has joined Cardiff City on a season-long loan from Manchester City.
The 31-year-old Welshman was wanted by the likes of Tottenham, Sunderland, Celtic, Fulham and Everton, but Cardiff have won the race to sign him.
Bellamy was banned by Manchester City and told to stay away from the club’s training ground by manager Roberto Mancini yesterday. The arrival of Mario Balotelli to Eastlands was believed to be part of the move.
Bellamy fell out of favour with Mancini and was not going to be a part of City’s 25-man Premier League squad. He was undoubtedly their best player throughout the course of last season, and a move to the Championship to Cardiff was always something he considered should things not work out for him at City.
A statement from City's official club website read: "Manchester City can confirm that Craig Bellamy has agreed to join Championship club Cardiff City on a season-long loan.
He will be officially unveiled in South Wales later today, and subject to Premier League and Football League ratification will join up with Dave Jones' side in time to make his debut at home to Doncaster Rovers at the weekend."
Cardiff have called a press conference at 3pm today.
