Following Liverpool’s win in the Carling Cup final, Craig Bellamy has gone on to insist that the team needs to focus on qualifying for the Champions League.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 took on Cardiff in the finals of the Carling Cup and went on to beat the team via a penalty shootout. Both the teams were level after a hundred and twenty minutes and in the end, the Reds won the penalty shootout with them outscoring their opponents
by three converted penalties to two.
Despite picking up a trophy, it seems like http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471 isn’t satisfied just yet. The attacker has admitted that he wants more from the current season and believes that the team need to try their best to finish in the top four.
Following the game, Bellamy was asked about his thoughts over the current season and just what he expected to achieve in the next couple of months.
The attacker responded by stating: "It's not the end of the season for us, this club is pushing the players day in day out to perform to the highest level."
"That's what we have to continue to try and do.”
He then admitted that a Champions League spot was what the team really needed and hence they were going to try their best to achieve it.
"The Champions League is the place where this club deserves to be but we've got to go and prove that on a weekly basis and hopefully we're able to do it."
Bellamy then admitted that despite having a poor start to the game, he never doubted his sides ability to win the game, as he went on to add:
"It was just a difficult game full stop. I thought first half we started well. We hit the bar and I thought it was a matter of time.”
With Liverpool now having won a trophy, the team’s confidence is bound to be at an all time high. As a result, it is now up to the team to use this confidence and try and make their way up the Premier League table, as they look to capture the fourth spot.
Nonetheless, it is now a wait to see just what position the Reds end their season at.
