http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 rotation policy – Cricket News Update
Craig Kieswetter, the English wicketkeeper/batsman, has backed the selectors’ rotation policy and feels that important players must be taken care of, if the Poms are to consistently do well in international cricket.
The selectors have adopted the rotation policy throughout the season and have rested their premier bowlers like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/GP-Swann-c1501 for some fixtures.
Swann has been rested once again, for the last two matches of the One Day International (ODI) series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at home later this
month in one of the most important Test series in recent times.
Kieswetter understands that fans pay to watch the best players in action but expressed that winning matches for the country is the most important thing. The wicketkeeper believes that in modern-day cricket’s busy schedules, it is imperative to use star players
with caution.
The 24-year-old said, "Obviously, spectators want to see the big players playing, but they also want to see England winning consistently. If everyone is playing every single game, with the sort of schedules we are having to play now, there would be a lot
more injuries."
Over the last five years, England have emerged as one of the top teams of the world once again. After whitewashing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 last year in the four-match Test series in 2011, the Poms became the number one ranked Test team.
In case of a 5-0 victory in the on-going ODI series, the British would have become the top team in the 50-over format as well. Their progress however, was hampered by rain, which enforced a washout.
The hard-hitting batsman further added that some may not agree with resting the main players but feels that it is imperative to achieve England’s long-term goals.
"There's a lot been said about the rotation policy. In the long term the rotation policy is a really positive move to helping England achieving goals and reaching number one status in all three formats," Kieswetter added.
