Craig Levein angry at speculation over Kenny Miller
Scotland national team coach Craig Levein has expressed anger over reports in the media which suggested that striker Kenny Miller may not make the starting line-up for the UEFA 2012 European Football Championship
qualifying match against Czech Republic.
The Rangers forward has been in outstanding scoring form this season, having netted 10 times already for his club. He also scored in the 2-1 Euro 2012 qualifying win over Liechtenstein.
Despite that good form, newspaper reports have claimed that Levein will drop 30-year-old Miller for Queens Park Rangers forward Jamie Mackie, who is featuring in the Scotland squad for the first time.
It had been suggested that former Dundee United manager Levein was set to omit Miller from his starting line-up, but he told reporters that: "It's frustrating. From my point of view, it doesn't help. My
sole purpose is trying to win a match in Prague. It frustrates me that there are other agendas. There is nothing I can do — I just concentrate on the football."
'We will see what happens'
When asked if was still considering Miller for a place in the team, Levein said that: "Of course. We will wait and see what happens. You can couch it in as many different ways as you want, I am not in
any way going to give you any indication at this moment in time."
Aberdeen captain Paul Hartley, who has missed out on the games against the Czechs and world and European champions Spain due to injury, said that he expected Miller to start in Prague if Levein opts to
deploy a lone striker.
He told the BBC that: “I think, over the last (few) years, Kenny has played that role very well. He is probably the main man for that job if you are going to go away from home and play one up front.”
If Miller plays in Friday’s match, he will receive his landmark 50th cap.
