Craig McDermott joins Ireland as bowling coach for World T20 – Cricket News Update
Australia’s Craig McDermott has been appointed Ireland’s new specialist bowling coach and team consultant for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka during late September, as announced by Cricket Ireland at a recent departure press conference.

U-19 World Cup last month, is due to feature during a pre-tournament training camp for the Irish team in Colombo before the tournament kicks off on September 18.

“The funding for the appointment emanated from the ICC high performance program, which has provided the two associates (Ireland and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745) playing in the World T20s with financial support,” he added.
McDermott originally began his career as a fast bowler for Australia, and played 71 Tests (with 291 wickets to his name) and 138 ODIs (203 wickets) for the national team before a slew of injuries hastened his retirement. He was appointed Australia’s bowling

However, family commitments and a busy international schedule led to his retirement from the post in May 2012, after serving as the Aussies’ bowling coach for a year.
Keeping his vast experience and credentials in view, Cricket Ireland Performance director Richard Holdsworth expressed his pleasure at having the services of McDermott, claiming that the former Australian coach’s instruction would prove highly useful for
the Irish as they prepare to play their first ICC World T20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 19.
