Craig Steadman believes he has plenty of time to improve his rankings – Snooker Update
World Number 83, England’s Craig Steadman finished the last snooker season performing convincingly in the minor ranking tournaments while in the major ranking snooker events, the Englishman was unable to perform according to the standards and crashed out
of the events mostly in the qualifying sessions. Despite his low performance in major events, the English potter still managed to book his place in the new snooker season.
The Englishman did participate in the 2011 World Snooker Qualifying School (Q School) but failed to earn a place in the new snooker season but his good performance in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship was enough to book his place in the pro circuit tour
for the next two years. This is a golden opportunity for Steadman to show his true form and improve his rankings in the international snooker standings.
Steadman still has a lot of snooker events for the next two years, including the recent season, where he can play well to get himself up in the rankings. The Englishman himself believes that he has a lot of time to gather his energy and win some major events
so that he can help himself to move up in the professional positions.
While speaking to World Snooker about his plans, Steadman said, “Even though I am guaranteed for two years, it's still very important to get off to a good start and pick up a lot of ranking points in the first year. Because there are no starter points, it
would be virtually impossible to get into the top 64, so probably the best I could do would be to finish the season 65th.”
He added, “I just want to get on a roll and win as many matches as I can. There's still plenty of time and the good thing about the tour now is that if you lose a match, there's no time to sulk, you just have to get ready for the next event.”
Steadman’s new season campaign was not according to the standards so far but he is hopeful that he will be able to cue better in the upcoming snooker events.
