Craig Watson hoping to win British Belt against Lee Purdy – Boxing news
The British professional boxer, Craig Watson, who fights at Light Welterweight, Welterweight and Light Middleweight divisions, is very confident to win his 12-round BBBofC British Welterweight title bout against British Welterweight contender, Lee Purdy.
The two fighters will be face to face with each other in their rematch on July 16, 2011 at the Sports Centre in Lancashire, United Kingdom.
The two fighters went against each other in their last bout on April 16, 2011 at the M.E.N Arena in Lancashire, United Kingdom. Lee ‘Lights Out’ Purdy won the 5th round technical knockout decision against the former British welterweight champion
Watson. The time was 0:40 of the fifth round when the referee Phil Edwards called the bout off.
Afterwards, the decision became controversial and as a result, Watson’s management made request to Hatton promotions for a possible rematch. Because of Hatton promotions efforts, Watson has succeeded in getting the rematch for the same title on July 16,
2011.
The President of Hatton Promotional Company, Ricky Hatton said, “Again Hatton Promotions are proving that when our fighters suffer a setback we give them opportunities to correct what went wrong.”
The Southpaw stance, Craig Watson said, “He is not that good. I was playing with him and he caught me with a good shot. I might not think Lee is anything special, but I cannot take anything away from him because he has got title. I did not have any pop in
our first fight even though I was winning and it was perhaps too soon after I beat John O’ Donnell.”
The 28-year-old, Watson fought 24 total fights of which he won 20 competitive bouts including 8 knockout victories with four losses and no draw in his professional boxing career.
The 24-year-old, Orthodox stance, Purdy fought 18 total fights of which he won 15 competitive bouts including 8 knockout victories with 2 losses and one draw in his growing professional career.
Hopefully, the fight will be interesting and fascinating to watch.
