The African team’s captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Craig-Williams-c51765 won the toss and elected to bat first. The wicket was dry and conducive for runs, as there was no assistance for the bowlers in it.
The start to the Namibian innings was not an ideal one, as they lost their opening batsman Jan-Berrie Burger in the second over of the match for nought.
However, Sarel Burger walked out in the middle and he batted sensibly along with opener and wicketkeeper batsman Ewald Steenkamp. The pair rescued their team out of trouble with a brilliant partnership of 155 runs for the second wicket.
Steenkamp got out after scoring 87 runs off 119 balls with the help of 7 fours and one massive six. He played exceptionally well, but would have liked to carry onto make a big one for his team.
The departure of the wicketkeeper batsman was followed by Sarel’s wicket. The Namibian first-drop played a steady innings of 59 runs from 105 balls. He struck one four and a six in his knock.
The Namibian captain took maximum advantage of the platform laid by the top-order batsmen, as he scored a blistering innings of 74 runs from just 35 balls. The flamboyant right-hander smashed the ball to all parts of the park, guiding his team’s total close
to 300. He hit 4 fours and 7 towering sixes in his thunderous knock.
Williams also got some support by his lower middle-order batsmen, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raymond-van-Schoor-c84385 scored cameos of 14 and 13 towards the end of the innings. Apart from that, there was nothing significant from the Namibian batsmen.
The Bermuda bowlers started off very nicely, but failed to capitalise. They gave away 28 extras in the innings, including 19 wides and 6 no-balls.
Stefan Kelly and Rodney Trott bowled in good areas, taking two wickets each in the match. However, they did not get much support from the other bowlers, who conceded a lot of runs in the death overs.
