I met someone to purchase a bike. They wanted $90.00, but I was unwilling to pay more than $40.00. We agreed on $55 and I handed her the cash. While placing the bike in my vehicle for transport, she runs out her house, apologizing that she made a poor judgement and that she cannot accept $55 and holds her hand out, obviously to nullify the transaction and get her cash back...I stand there blank like, thinking, "she must be joking". She explained she's strapped for cash but still can't let it go at that price, BUT SHE ALREADY DID!! She believes because I haven't left yet, the transaction is voidable. I'm not handing her back jack. Am I wrong?

  1. It’s kind of a strange deal, but I’d have taken my money and given her the bike.

  2. Well, technically you made a verbal agreement on the price, and you two made the exchange.  So you own the bike.  It is like buying a bike at the store, once you swipe the card, or pay the cash you made the purchase.  So she is in the wrong.  She made the agreement.

  3. Well Kind of....... It would be different if she called you two days later and wanted it back! Put yourself in her shoes!

  4. Technically you did the transaction and the deal is closed, however you are still there with the item and she is there with the $. If she was that demanding I would have re-exchanged and gotten my $ back and found a new buyer.

Negotiations are funny like that sometimes. She was initially o.k. with it, but someone must have said something to her that she was not getting a good deal.
