Would you recommend using Craigslist to use in order to buy something out of state? I live in North Carolina and I want to purchase a pair of shoes for $50 and the item is coming from New Jersey. How would i know if its a scam? Please help, Thanks!

  1. I would only do it if you pay via PayPal. This way, if you never rcv the shoes, PayPal will refund you.

  2. I have personally purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from out of state. Even saying that there is absolutely no way to know what will happen. Maybe I'm a lucky one but I've been burned more on eBay the CL.

If you are worried about this then buy the shoes locally. I'm not sure what kind of shoes anyone would post for $50 to make money. In my opinion based on what you have written I think I'd look elsewhere locally or from a online store that at least has some kind of presence.

  3. .   I will never buy any Craigslist item except in person.  I pay cash and leave with the items.  After i have looked them over.   In yesterday's questions there was a guy who got scammed out of his money and he was furious.  I think the Craigslist seller wanted him to use PayPal and he did.

  4. I really wouldn't do it. Go through ebay. Either way, you're probably going to end up paying for shipping, and at least if the seller doesn't come through on ebay you can report them. It's really not worth it going through CL for something like that. If you decide to do it anyway, make sure you save all emails between you and the seller and use a safe payment like paypal.
