Craigslist advertising...? how to....?

Question

So I posted an ad on craigslist with a link to my site. It stayed up and did not get taken down. My question is how do SEO's use Craigslist? Do they post the same message in different cities. I need to know the basics!

Posting on craigslist alone will not provide all the traffic you want. There's a good guide to increase your traffic here: http://traffic-tips-and-tricks.blogspot.... The tips described there are quite simple but very effective.Check out tip number 5, it will help you rank high on search engines in a relatively small amount of time.

And if you're willing to invest some time into it you should also consider reading the book "Guerrilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson, it tells you a lot of practical and effective ways to market your business for very little or no money at all.

I have used Craigslist extensively as a traffic driver, but it's not an effective SEO tool.  Links are temporary based on how long the ad is live, and I have yet to see an ad we have posted get indexed and rank on page 1 of Google because our keywords are very competitive.  

If you are looking to get more traffic Craigslist could be a great avenue, but not the best for SEO purposes.

SEO's don't necessarily use Craigslist... we have in the past used Craigslist and have always been sure to include the city name in it.  For example: If you are posting in Atlanta and are providing mechanic services.  In both the ad and the title - you'd write Atlanta Mechanic Services... or Mechanic Services around the Atlantic Area.  Sometimes it can rank on the search engines.  If you post the same messages in each city, CL will kick you off so we'd try to post one or two ads a day (if that).  You don't want to spam the site.
