  1. well i would email the add asking for more info then i wold ask for a # to ask more questions

  2. I would talk to the person on the phone, get a "feel" for them.

  3. if you contact them say for tickets to disneyland or something and they won't give you a phone number and ask you to meet at a place other then their house or if they call you from a protected line so it doesnt' show the number.. you may be getting scamed. I almost bought disneyland tickets from this person but it was difficult to get in touch with them from my schedule and so they called and i wasn't sure what time practice would be over so i said i'll call them after but they didn't want to give the phone number so they said they'd call me at 8.. but it was too difficult so i just stopped trying and about two months later an FBI person left a message on my phone saying they were investigating fraud from craigslist from that person and found my number and wanted to make sure i didnt get ripped off

  4. There are alot of scammers out there. Be careful! Ask the seller to provide a telephne number so that you two can communicate by phone. Do not belive them if they state that they are temporaily out of the Country due to military or etc.... If you can not do the transaction locally then most likely it cant be trusted.

DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON - follow this one simple rule and you will avoid 99% of the scam attempts on craigslist.

NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is a scammer.

FAKE CASHIER CHECKS & MONEY ORDERS ARE COMMON, and BANKS WILL CASH THEM AND THEN HOLD YOU RESPONSIBLE when the fake is discovered weeks later.

CRAIGSLIST IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"

NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.)

AVOID DEALS INVOLVING SHIPPING OR ESCROW SERVICES and know that ONLY A SCAMMER WILL "GUARANTEE" YOUR TRANSACTION.

    Canadian PhoneBusters hotline: 888-495-8501

    Internet Fraud Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov/)
