Question:

Craigslist scam?

I was looking on craigslist and I saw a car that looked nice and was being sold at about half its value. This guy said he recently joined the military and offered to let me test the car for 7 days. He said the military would cover shipping for him by flying it to a local airport and trucking it to my residence. He wants the transaction done via eBay Express, where they hold the money while I test the car and then release it to him after I decide I want it. To send the money I have to use moneygram and fax the info to Ebay. What do you think? Scam?

  1. Scam.  That scam is ALL OVER craigslist and ebay both.

  2. no offense, but it's CRAIGSLIST.

the only thing you can get on there is a hooker, I think....

(and yes it is a scam if you didn't get the hint.)

  3. I'm guessing a scam, but ask to meet the guy. Tell him you'll fly out to wherever he is to test drive the car because you like to travel anyway. Ask him for an address and phone number.

If he actually gives it to you, call him and you'll find out right away.

  4. I didn't even read the whole question. As soon as i saw the words "half price" and "military" it just screamed SCAM to me! Trust me, I have seen people play the military card 1000 times. Unfortuantely, in my past experiences, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!

  5. If it looks like a duck quaks like a duck then it probably is a duck   (SCAM)

  6. shannon if it sound to good thats what it is if you do this you will be out of 2 things ur money in a car that did not ever exist

    IT IS A SCAM

any one that belives goat he is a scam lol

  7. >>  nice and was being sold at about half its value. This guy said he recently joined the military and offered to let me test the car for 7 days.

Are you kidding?  I could take ANY car to a dealer and get at least 80% of book value (and finish the deal in 2 hours).  Why sell it at 50%?

    SCAM !!!!!

    Good Luck...

  8. Don't bother with Craigslist, most of that stuff is a ripoff, except the listings for "erotic services"! Good times

  9. No, not a scam i did the same with my car. the person i brought it from was being shipped to iraqu and the army paied for the shipping.

  10. 99% if it sounds to good to be true it is a bad thing!

you can never be to careful. Why would he want to send a car that far away??? what if you didn't want it??

    I wouldn't do it.

  11. I would say that it's a scam. Find another way to pay like by paypal or something because you are safer if it is a scam.

  12. I don't know what's going on there sounds like a scam.  But on the other hand he doesn't get any money until you say so. Just make sure you've looked over everything before accepting this transaction.
